I JOHN COLLYER OF LONDON Marchant and Cloathworker being at the presente in some weakness of body, but praised be god) in perfect memory and understanding, as at any time of my life I have beene considering the certaine uncertainty of death, and my more than ordinary weakness and xxxxx thereunto, through the increase of a Consumption growing on me doe by this writing as by my last will and testament declare my desire how both my selfe and all things of myne may be disposed of at and after my departure hence
FIRST I humbly resigne my Soule to the Gratious Creat:r thereafter my loveing ffather in Jesus Christ beseechinging him that as his owne he accepte and receive it to glory through the merritts of his sonne my Saviour My body next I bequeath to the earth, and doe order that it be decently buried in Church or Church yard of Beddington in Surry with the least pompe or expense that may be to the good Custome of the Citty of London confroming my selfe for the disposing of my temporall estate I give thereof one intire third part to my true loveing

IMPRIMIS to my brother Isaack Collyer I give and forgive the five hundred pounds lent him
ITEM to my Nephew Isaack Collyer Junior I give to hundred and fifty pounds to be paid as ith (sic) the profitts of it after my estate shall fully come into cash
ITEM to my mother in law M:rs Anne ?Hexxxxx I give fifty pounds to be made her good in June next in the yeare One Thousand six hundred fifty
ITEM to her daughter my sister in law M:rs Anna Maria I give two hundred pounds to be paid six monthes after her marriage or twentie fower monethes after my death which shall first happen
ITEM to my brother in law XXXXX Male I give two hundrede pounds from which must be deducted what he already owe me uppon accompt for charges pictures bought or otherwise, only for diet I reckon nothing
ITEM to my brother John Knight I give my interest in the house he now inhabite in Marklant (sic), and to my sister his wife I give twenty pounds
ITEM to my Couzins William and Mary Turner I forgive twenty five pounds of what they owe me
ITEM to Henry Swift I give fifteene pounds
ITEM to M:r Job Throgmorton I give fifteene pounds
ITEM to the porre of Bedington parish I give tenn pounds And to severall poore in London at the discretion of my Executors I give twenty pounds to be distributed to forty people at tenn shillings a peece
ITEM to Edward XXXX I give twenty pounds
ITEM to William Jolliffe I restore of what I had with him, one hundred pounds
ITEM the advance of my estate I give one third to my loveing wife Regina Collyer and two thirds to my heire Charles Collyer Execut:r of this my last will and testament I appoint my deare freind M:r Job Throgmorton and my brother Isaack Collyer and Executrix joyntly with them my wife Regina Collyer Be it provided and hereby it is by me ordered that all my estate be obleiged to the said Executo:rs and Executrix to serve them for the satisffaction of such debts as at my death I shalbe engaged for I willing and by all meanes appointing that my debts be first taken care of and satisfied ere any other Legacies not already paid not withstanding whatsoever is before said ffurther I order that my wife be not longer Executriyx than she shall continue a widdow I further ordaine and appointe that every Legatee shall patiently expecte the paymente of his or her Legacie till my Executor:s and Executrix can conveniently pay them, which is referd to their discretion And if any Legatee shall notwithstanding this Clause move or comence a law suite against my Executors I hereby for such fault fully take away his or her Legacy, as if it had beene never given ffurther I provide and orderconcerning my child Charles Collyer that he be referred to the Gardian shipp of his mother to be brought up in the English learning and the Protestant ffaith desireing my Executo:es that they assist and councell her the best they can to this purpose ffurther in case shee at any time leave England I then totally refer my child to the discretion of my two Executo:es and not admitt him to goe with her, unless by their consent ffurther I order that in case it should please god to take to his mercy my sonn Charles before he come to the age of twenty one yeares old that his ?Legacy descend to my next heire which now is my brother Isaack Collyer next to him my Nephew Isaack Collyer the younger And in case at the decease of both of them it devolveth to my sister Mary the wife of Jn:e Knight And the heires of her body ffurther I order and desire my Executo:es and Executrix to dispose of the state of my sonne Charles after it comes into cash as they shall think best for his most advantage
ITEM I give unto my servants that shalbe at my death not yett named twenty shillings a peece
My householdstuffe plate xxxxx and cloathes I leave to my wife Regina Collyer she makeing good to the estate for them three hundred pounds
My booke of cash Journalls and Legacies and all other bookes and writings of accompt whatsoever I have to my Executors Mr Job Thorgmorton and Isaack Collyer to be kept in their possession to to be showne to my Executrix or any for her at her pleasure
My nephew Isaack Collyer I desire may be kept either by my wife or my sister Knight at fifteene pounds per annum includeing schooling and all other necessaryes till he be of age to be bound prentice
To my wife Regina Collyer I order forty

Pounds to be bestowed in soe many Rings and give to such of my freinds as by a note I shall appointe her Thxx once more comending my soule to God and his mercy in Christ I with my owne hand attest this and seale it in the hamlett of Wallington in Surry this eighteenth of December 1649
