IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Edwin Browne being in perfect health and memory (All laud and praise be given unto Almighty God for the same) And considering the uncertainty of man’s life especially in this time of great mortality Doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and fforme following (That is to say)
First I give and bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty God, my Onely maker Saviour and Redeemer by whom and through the meritts of whose most pretious death and passion I onely trust to be saved And to be made partaker of his heavenly Kingdom Purchased with his owne Bloodshedd upon the Crosse for all those that beleive in him And for such goods as it hath pleased God to Bestow

upon me I give and bequeath the same in manner and forme following
ITEM whereas my wife for and in Consideraton of the marriage of our daughter Elizabeth And that I might the better part with such a Portion as was required with her which I could not have done in respect of my other ffower Children if she should have stood upon the THIRDS of my Estate I say upon that Consideration she did condiscend in lieu of her THIRDS to accept of Two hundred pounds a yeare annuity during her life which my Sonne in Lawe M:r William Rawstern hath agreed by Articles of Marriage to settle upon her by security of Land after my death for which he is to have out of my Estate the sume of Eighteene hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of England as by the Articles of marriage appeareth And my will is That this may be performed by him and the said Eighteene hundred poundsw paid accordingly

I give and bequeath unto my eldest Sonne Edwin All all my part and Interest of a Plantation in the Barbadoes commonly called the fforts Plantation which I have in thirds with Sr Andrew Riccard and Mr William Williams with all sugar made or making All cropps upon the ground cattel slaves houses with whosover (sic) belongs unto me there And if it should please God that he depart before the age of twenty ffoure yeares of day of marriage I give and bequeath the same withall the proffitts arising thereof to my other three sonnes Henry Daniell and John or the Survivors or Survivor of them to be equally divided amongst them
ITEM I give unto my ffoure sonnes Edwin Henry Daniell and John one third part of my personall estate according to the Customs of the City of London to be equally divided amongst them
ITEM I give unto my loving brother Humphrey Browne the sum of ffifty pounds of good and lawfull money of England More I give unto him and to my lovinge sister his wife To my niece Martha his daughter And to my nephew Mun [?] Browne his sonne To each of them fforty shillings apeece to buy them Rings
ITEM I give and bequeath to my Sister in Law Mrs Mary Browne the summe of ffifty pounds to be employed for the use and benefitts of my Neece Barkers [?] children and to her Sister my Neece Barker aforesaid to each of them fforty shillings apeece to buy them Rings
ITEM I give and bequeath to my Nephew Arthur Browne the two hundred pounds which he oweth me desiring him that he that he would imploy it for the benefitt of his children And to himselfe and his lovinge wife fforty shillings apeece to buy them Rings

To buy her a Ring Item I give to my old friend Mrs Sarah Lamley the summ of tenn pounds And to her husband fforty shillings to buy him a Ring Item I give to my three servants Margarett Mordent Margrett Hollethorne and Ffrances Woolmore three pounds a peece And I give more unto my aforesaid servant Margrett Mordent for her great pains and care about my children the summ of thirty pounds or ffour pounds a yeare to be paid her quarterly duirng her naturall life which she shall make choice of
ITEM I give to the Parish of Mortlake the summ of tenn pounds to be imployed in a stocke for coales or otherwise as the Parishioners shall think best for the good of the poore of the said parish soe as the stocke be not diminished but always be made good
ITEM I give to M:r Radford and his wife of Richmond fforty shillings a peece to buy them Rings And to their Maid Servants ffour shillings a peece for their care of my Children with them
ITEM I give to Rachell Mellhuish who is with my wife the summe of ffive pounds
ITEM I give to my Two Grandchildren Elizabeth and Jerom Rawstorne the summe of Twenty ffive pounds a peece To be employed by my executor:s herafter named untill they arive to the age of Eighteene years And if either of them dye before his part to go to the survivor:r of them And if it shall please God that they both dye before they come to Eighteene years Then I will that the whole Stocke and profitt Shall goe to the youngest daughter of my sonne Rawstorn by his wife that now is And in case they have not a daughter To the youngest sonne And my desire is That my Brother Buckworth would make it my request to the Turky Company together with his owne To have liberty to imploy it for Turky ?Lymitt both the summe and the tyme And if they will have an acknowledgment To allow it them out of the Creditt I have with them or otherwayes And my will is that my Executors shall not answere any losse or make it good either of the profitt or stocke But the hazard and event of all Adventures To be borne by the Children To whom it is bequeathed or shall belong
ITEM I give and bequeath unto Sixty and four poore men Sixty four pound (That is to say) Twenty shillings a peece And being now about leave Mortlake And if it shall please God to call me to himselfe before I returne My will is That Tenn of them be of the parish where it shall please God to call me To be appounted by my wife and Twenty ffive to be bestowed to ffrends to whom they shall nominate as my Executo:r shall [direc0074] CHECK ORIGINAL and thinke fitt I meane to such ffreinds as my Executo:r shall direct and thinke fitt I want to such ffreinds as my Executo:r xcr. And my meaning is That such Sixty ffoure poore men as aforesaid may receive Twenty shillings a peece though they are not att my buriall nor is it my will or desire That any be put to the least trouble or Charge to accompany me otherwayes than those in the parish where I shall be buried And in case this my will should not be understood or not performed by the Company of such there yet my will is That Tenn poore men in the parish where I dye shall receive Twenty shillings a peece The men to be appointed by the Master of the house as aforesaid And the other ffifty ffive as afore directed to receive the ffifty ffive pounds which is twenty shillings a peece after my buriall I shall say little but leave it to my Executors not knowing in the Calamatous tymes which God hath most Justly sent amongst us for our ill ?returnes of mercyes received whether I may be accompanied with safely or find a man to xxxx me to the Grace as I have seen by others where I now am however it may be my desire is it may be Private And if there be a Sermon Pray let the Minister be spoken to to direct his discourse for the benefitt of the Living and not to speake any thing concerning me I know nothing

ITEM I give and bequeath ynto my two Executors hereafter named the summ of ffifty pounds a peece earnestly desiring them to be carefull in the breeding of my children my Sonne Edwin I would have sent to his cousin Mun Browne att Aleppo wherein I desire my brother Burkworths direction and assistance And as many of them as shall be found Capable I desire may be made Merchants And all to be plated with men fearing God and Civill and Sober Conversation
All the rest of my Estate not being here bequeathed my just debts paid and my buriall charges I give and bequeath to my ffoure sonnes Edwin Henry Daniell and John to be equally devided amongst them Onely I give to my lovinge daughter Rawstorn whom I had forgott before fforty shillings for to buy her a Ring
And my long Dymond Ring which I usually weare for a Remembrance
AND I DOE hereby nominate and appoint My lovinge brother in Law Mr John Buckworth and my lovinge sonne in Lawe Mr William Rawstorn of London Merchants my Executors of this, my last will and testament, not doubting of their loving performance of this my last will and testament And of their care of my poore children And my will is that their portions be paid them with att the age of twenty and one yeares And if any of them dye before the age of twenty and one yeares my will is that their portions as well Legatory as Orphanage may equally goe to the Survivors or Survivor of them And I doe hereby make null and void All former wills either by writing or by word of mouth made by me
