//This deft saveing to himselfe now and at all times all advantages of excepccon to the manifold incertaintyes and insufficiencies of the said Comp:tts Bill of Comp:tt

//for answer thereunto or soe much thereof as materially concerneth this deft to answer unto this def:t answereth and sayeth That he beleiveth it to be//

//true that the Comp:tts the governor and company of Marchants had severall shipps which lately returned from the East Indies by the bill XXX forth and//

//that the severall psons named in the said bill to be?their severall M:rs were the M:r of the same And it is true that this deft was M:r of the said shipp called the//

//Constantinople and this def:t further sayeth that the shipp called the Constantinople of which this deft was M:r was freighted as this deft beleiveth with//

//Calicoes Indico Peper and other commodityes And this def:t doth not knowe what the other ships menconed in the said bill of comp:lt were//

//freighted with all but conceiveth they may be of the like commodityes And this deft further sayeth that this deft doth not knowe what//

//agreem:t the other Masters of the said shipes made with the comp:lts but this deft did agree with the Comp:lts to have five ?in ?a hundred//

//provided it was not of those goods that were prohibited or ???mulstable And this deft doth deny all combinaccon with the other Masters//

//named in the said bill or with any other of the defts or that this deft ever had any dealeing in relaccon to any matters menconed in the//

//bill with any of the defts or that they did to this defts knowledge or by his privity or direccons take or cause to be taken out of the//

//ship called the Constantinople any goods or Marchandizes whatsoever as by the bill is pretended and this deft doth deny that he//

//brought over in his shippe and prohibited goods except foure small bailes or parcells of calicoe, And this deft sayeth that what//

//goods or Marchandizes the other defts tooke out of the other shipes or any of them this deft knoweth not. But this deft did//

//take out of the shipe called the Constantinople Marchant foure small parcells or bailes of calicoe aforesaid & some few//

//peeces of fine calicoe that did not exceed twenty peeces & three bailes of Indicoe as this deft doth remember and not peper//

//nor clowes Nutmeggs or Sinamon (sic) But such as were ?inventories and boxes for tokens (for this defts owne private use or)for
