Stephanus White civitatis Nristoliensis Nauta, [?arles] ibm, etatis
30ta. annorum aut eu circiter, testis productus.

Ad primum arlum deponit that the day whereon the Recovery and Charitie
arlate came fowle of each other being about eight moneths since, was a very
darke and foggie day, and saith that in such weather the masters and mariners
of shipps ought to be upon their watch on the decks, and to make a noise
by some of the meanes arlate videlicet by ringing a bell, beating a drum, or
sounding a trumpet (if they have them) or some other wayes, as by beating
with a greate mall or sledge upon the anchor with whooping and holloring
that soe those of other shipps may take notice of and avoid them, and this
hee saith was and is usuall and customary at sea in such weather, which
hee knoweth having gone to sea on voyages for theise eighteene yeares last.

Ad secundum arlum deponit that the arlate John Gardner Master of the Charitie
and his company whereof this deponent was one did on the said day before
and to the time of the disaster hereafter mentioned keep diligent watch
on their deck, and with their Carpenters mall beate upon their anchor
and made much noise therewith as alsoe with hooping and hollowring to the
end aforesaid, as they of the Recovery might have done if they had bin stirring
upon the deck as it was credibly affirmed that they were not, and hee beleeveth
there were noe more than two of them then upon the deck, for hee saw noe
more, and if there had bin more, hee would have seene them as hee did
those two when the two shipps clashed. Et alr nescit.
