Transcription

contracted for and bought the sayd shipp hee departed therewith to
ffleckerye arlate where hee was to pay some part of the sayd money soe
agreed upon And notwithstanding the sayd agreement one of the sayd Captaines
of the sayd two Oastend men of warr did as this deponent hath heard and
beleeveth goe to ffleckere aforesayd and there tooke the sayd ffisher thence
aboard his man of warr and carried him to Amsterdam and there
kept him prizoner intending as this deponent beleeveth there to keepe
him prizoner till the money contracted for as aforesayd were paid
And hee this deponent being brought a prizoner in the other of the
sayd two Ostend men of warr to Amsterdam there sawe the sayd
Robert ffisher a prizoner and knoweth that one Mr John derrike an
English merchant having procured this deponent his liberty thesayd Robert ffisher did by the sayd derviles meanes (hee having
first given the sayd dervile a bond to secure him from all trouble
and preiudice that night befall the sayd dereike thereby) make an
escape and come away from Amsterdam to England and came thence
in company of this deponent this hee knoweth for that hee was a
wittnesse to the sayd writeing or bond given to devile as aforesayd and saith that both the sayd
bonds given to the Ostenders for payment of the moneys aforesayd
according to agrement and alsoe the sayd bond or writing to the
sayd dervile lyes out against him the sayd ffisher this hee
knoweth and deposeth for the reasons aforesayd./

To the 8th hee saith saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot durther
depose thereto.

To the 9th hee saith that hee did observe and see that the sayd shipp the
Willing Adventure was by the fight shee maynteyned with the sayd
two Oastend men of warr damnified in her tackle sayles and hull to the value of
two hundred pounds sterling in this deponents Judgment and estimate And
further to this article hee cannot depose./

To the 10th hee saith hee beleeveth that the sayd ffisher did spend and lay
out a considerable summe of money in releeveing and careing his
men that were wounded in fight and in victualls and provisions for them
and other necessary expenses but what to estimate the same at hee knoweth
not And further hee cannot depose./

To the last saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose./

To the Interrogatories/ [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee cometh to testifie at request of Robert ffisher
the producent And to the rest of the Interrogatorie hee answereth negatively./

To the 2 hee saith the Shipp Interrogate was taken neere the [?Naze] in Norway not
farr from the land of List in the moneths of June or July upon a ffriday the tyme more
certaynly hee doth not now remember And saith hee was present when the Takers
offered
