Transcription

To the fifteenth article he deposeth that he hath
knowne the arlate Policarpe de Olivares for about
tenne yeares past, and that he is a Portuguese by birth
and subiect to the king of Portugall, And that of
this deponents knowledge there hath bin correspondence in the
way of trade and merchandizing for three yeares
last past between the sayd Perera and Oliveras
And further he cannot depose.

To the sixteenth article he deposeth and saith that for
all the time this deponent hath had any dealing or
correspondence with the said Perera (which hath bin for
about two yeares last past) he the said Perera hath
dwelt and bin an Inhabitant of Amsterdan And
further he cannot depose.

To the last he saith his former deposition is true./

To the interrogatoryes ministred on the behalfe of the
Lord Protector [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first he answereth that he was borne at Lisboa in
Portugall, and that before he lived in England, which is for
two yeares last past he lived at Roane in ffrance for
nigh tenn yearres And to the rest he answereth negatively.

To the second Interrogatory he answereth that he beleiveth the
interrate Perera is a Portuguese by birth And further he
cannot answeare.

To the third Interrogatory he referreth himselfe to his former
deposition And further he cannot answeare:

To the fourth Interrogatory he answereth that he is convinced in his
conscience that the goods interrate were bought by the Agents
of and for the accompt of the said Perera, and therfore
are his proper goods, And to the rest or otherwise he knoweth
not to answeare./

To the fifth Interrogatory he answereth that he was here in England
when the said goods were laden aboard the shipp in Portugall.

To the sixth he answereth that he referreth himselfe to what he
hath sayd and is putt downe to the fourth article of the
allegation And otherwise cannot answeare./

To the seaventh Interrogatory he answereth that the goods interrate
were consigned to Rodrigues de Morais at haver de grace
or Roane his the said Pereras Agent there, And to
the rest it is already answered./

To the Eighth Interrogatory he answereth that he doth not
know, nor is any way convinced, nor doth beleive that
any of the said goods are the goods of frenchmen or
Subjects to the french king, but really and truly the
owne proper goods of the said Joseph Perera And
further he cannot answeare/

To the ninth, tenth, eleaventh and twelth Interrogatories
he answereth that he refrreth himselfe to his
former deposition And otherwise he knoweth not
to answeare.

To
