quantitie of trayne oyle, and some whale bone, and a whole tyre of empty casks,
and some bread, (but that was utterly spoiled by wett received which had made it
unserviceable) And as touching what condition the vessell was in and what
living thing was on board her the tyme Interrogate hee hath answered in his foregoeing
deposition soe farr as hee can and further cannot depose/

To the third hee saith hee knoweth not the name of the shipp interrogate, nor
who had bin Master of her, nor what countrey shee came from, but conceiveth
by her ladeing, being oyle, and whalebone, that shee came from Greeneland or
some such place, and knoweth not whether shee was bound, And further to
this Interrogatorie hee cannot answere./

To the 4th hee saith that when the sayd shipp was soe found driving as
aforesayd, there were three or fower other shipps at a great distance off
but whether they were of her company hee knoweth not, And saith hee hath
heard some of the Company of the Lyon, videlicet hs Contest John Gough and
others who went in the sayd shipp Interrogate to Dartmouth saye, that they
were there told by some ffrenchmen then there that shee belonged to ffrench men And
further to this Interrogatorie hee cannot answere/

To the 5th hee saith the shipp Interrogated is a dutch built shipp soe farr as
this deponent Judgeth by her mould and shape, and saith hee knoweth not of
any writings found aboard her, nor whether shee have any picture on her
sterne or other marke whereby to knowe her name or of what port shee
was, And further cannot answere/

To the last hee saith hee beleeveth the shipp Interrogated
has bin in fight with some other shipp or shipps not longe before shee
was soe found driveing as aforesayd, for that hee observed shee
had receaved shott in divers places under water and for that her yards
and tackle were cut downe and lying on the deck, and for that her companyes
chests were all rifled and broken open, And further to this Interrogatorie
hee cannot answere./

Abell Longden of Limehouse Mariner aged about 22 yeares a wittnes sworne and examined
saith as followeth videlicet./

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith the shipp Interrogate was by Captaine
John Lambert and his Company of the Lyon then in the service of this Common
wealth and homeward bound from the West Indies) found driveing to and fro
upon the sea about thirteene leagues to the southward of the Lands end
and saith the sayd Captaine seeing her se drive did send some of his
company with a boate on board her, of whome this deponent was one and
that this deponent and the rest of the company sent comeing aboard found that
her hold was full of water up to the Gunne deck and all her
tackle and yardes cutt downe and her sayles gone, and the sayd Captaine of
the Lyon seeing in what condition shee was did comand about five and forty
of his company whereof this deponent was one and his this deponents contest John Gough
