all others whomsoever in generall.}

Examined upon the Libell

9th of May 1653. [CENTRE HEADING]

1)

John Court of Wapping in the County of
Middlesex Mariner, where he hath lived about five
yeares since, aged about 30ty yeares a wittnes produced
sworne and examined deposeth as followeth videlicet

To the first article of the said Libell and to the schedules or
bills of Lading therin mentioned and to the said Libell annexed
he deposeth and saith That the arlate Richard Slany was
commonly accompted and reputed on board the shipp the George
of London Libellate, (of which said shipps Company this deponent
was one) the true and lawfull Owner and Proprietot of
ninety nine barrells of Raysins Solis mentioned
in the first of the said schedules, And that the articulate
Christopher Chappell was alsoe accompted and reputed the
true and lawfull Owner and Proprietor of the thirty two
barrells of Raysins Solis arlate and mentioned in the second
schedule ofr bill of Lading annexed unto the said Libell, The
premisses he knoweth being one of the shipp the George of
London her Company, on board which shipp the arlate
Raysins Solis were laden for the said Slanys and
Chappells account, and to whom of for whose account of
this deponents certaine knowledge (being Boateswaine)
of the said shipp the George) they were delivered at this
port of London And further he cannot depose.

To the second and third articles of the said Libell he deposeth and
saith that he this deponent being Boateswaine of the arlate
shipp the George of London in her voyage from this Port
to Malaga doth therfore very well and certainly know that
the arlate Richard Stevens was Master of the said shipp and
had the charge of her during the months Libellate and that
within the said time videlicet in October, November and december
last past the said Richard Stevens was with the said shipp
at or neere Malaga, and that the arlate Raysins Solis and
other goods schedulate mentioned in the first Bill of Lading arlate were there
Laden aboard her for the sayd Richard Slanys accompt and
and that the Raysins Solis and other goods schedulate and
mentioned in the second Bill of lading arlate were there at
Malaga laden aboard her for the arlate Christopher Chappell
his Accompt, And he saith that he verily beleiveth the said
two bills of Lading arlate are the true originall bills of Lading
for the said goods for that now perusing them he saith that
they are subscribed by the said Master, Richard Steevens with
whose handwriting he is very well acquainted And further
he deposeth not.

To the fourth, fifth, sixth, seaventh, eighth and ninth
articles of the said Libell he deposeth and saith that the
said barrells of Raysins Laden aboard the said shipp the George
of
