To the second Interrogatory he answereth that the interrate Ashwin
was not on board the ffriggatt that tooke the shippe in controversy
And that there they name or call the shipp after the name
of the Captaine of her, who was one Shapan, and that she
was upon noe trading voyage, for she was a ffrigatt or
man of warr belonging to the Governour of New Sally
And further he cannot answeare.
To the third Interrogatory he answereth that (to his best remembrance)
it was the latter end of October last when the shipp in
controversy was taken by the said Shapan=ffriggatt, and
that of this Respondents knowledge who was aboard the
said Schapan=friggatt when she tooke the shipp in controversy
the said shipp was floating upon the streame having
noe soule in her And he further answereth that accordinh to
the relation and confession of Anthonny Streete the sometimes
Masyter of her (which this Rendent hath heard him make)
he and all his company had quitted and relinquished the
said shipp and left her to the wide world for about seaven
days before she was taken, And further he cannot answeare
To the fourth Interrogatory he answereth that the interrate Streete
was a Captive at Sally after the taking and bringing in
thither his sayd shipp, and that he the Rendent hath heard
him say that he was chased, but that (as he sayd) he knew
not by whom, and that upon his being chased he left his
shipp, And he answereth that he never heard the said
Streete speake of Alderman ffrederick, And further
he cannot answeare./
To the fifth Interrogatory he answereth that he was not present
when the producent bargained for and bought the said shipp,
And otherwise referring himselfe to his former deposition he
cannot answeare.
To the sixth Interrogatory he answereth that the Captivity of the
said Anthony Streete rendred him in a condition uncapable
to lay claime to his shipp And further he cannot answeare
To the seaventh Interrogatory he answereth that he did not see any
money payd by the interrate Ashwin for the shipp in
controversy, And he saith that he well knew the interrate
shipp the Returne, that she was of the burthen of about
fourescore Tonns and a good shipp, but he saith he
knoweth not certainly what Gunns, Anchors or Cables
belonged unto her And otherwise he cannot answeare./
