Comvoy sett saile togeather homewards bpound for England, and in such their
passage neere unto the Island of Corsica they first discovered eleaven saile
of ducth men of warr, ten whereof not long after came up with the said Convoy
neere the Island of Planosa, where they engaged in fight, in which the said
shipp Thomas Bonadventure was very much damnified in her sailes rigging
masts and hull, but to what valew this deponent knoweth not nor can certainely depose,
And saith That after the said engagement all the other English shipps then in
Companie with her made in for Porto Longoone for their securitie, and had
otherwise in all probability been lost and taken by the said dutchmen of warr
Of the premisses hee saith hee was an Eye wittnesse, And further cannot
depose:-/

To the 10th hee saith, That the said shipp Thomas Bonadventure with the other
English shipps sp forced into Porto Longoone by the said dutch fleet were
there blocked up for about five moneths, Which hee knoweth belonging to her
all that time in the Condition aforesaid/:-

To the 11th article hee saith, That during such time as the said shipp the Thomas
Bonadventure lay at Porto Longoone as aforesaid, An Order from the then
Councell of State of this Commonwealth was brought and publiquely read
aboard the said shipp togeather with a Commission, importing and ordering
the said shipp and her Companie to be imployed in a warlike service
for the said Commonwealth against the dutch, and commannding her to that
purpose to be unladen and fitted for the said imployment, which orders and
Commission, the said hughes and Companie were constrained to obey, and
accordingly shortly after to unlade and serve as predeposed. The premisses hee
well knoweth, for that hee heard the said Order read as aforesaid, and
saw and perused the same together with the said Commission./

To the 13th hee saith, That the said shipp the Thomas Bonadventure
continued in the Merchant imployment in the Voiage in Controversy from
the moneth of November 1651. arlate untill the moneth of february 1652
arlate being the time that her said lading was fully discharged at Porta
fferrara by order as aforesaid, Which hee well knoweth for that hee this
examinate all the time belonged to and served in her, and accordingly received
his wages due for such his service, wherein hee by the Computation aforesaid
continued about 15. moneths./

Upon the rest of the articles of this Allegation hee is not examined by the direction
of the partie producent./

The same day, the said William Jefferey examined
upon another Allegation of the said producents conteyning
23. articles./

To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth, That the
shipp the dart frigatt arlate arrived at Cyprus about the 15th day
of May .1652: being then fully laden according as was there reported
