huis Curie 21 Marty 1637 factam dicit et deponit That in
the moneth of October Annos [?XX] 1636 this deponent being master
of the arlate shipp called the Centurion, did at Saint Martins Island
in ffrance take into the sayd shipp nyne hundred three quarters
and odd measures of Saint Martins salte,
and that each hundred m3easure dow
make by the common accimpte of masters of shipps (and merchants
the quantitye of twenty seaven tonnes or thereabouts in English tonnage
which the sayd shipp brought from thence to the port of London
and he could have taken in and stowed in her houlde the quantity
of halfe a hundred more of the sayd measures
but in regard the sayd shipp had eighteene peeces of ordnances
mounted in her, and that she might the better make use of them if
occasion served, and in regard of the winter then at hand, and that
the sayd nyne hundred three quarters and odd measures of Saint Martins
salte did and doth by Calculation reckoninge every hundred at
twenty seaven tonnes amounte in the whole to the quantitye of two
hundred sixtye five or two hundred and seaventy tonnes or thereabouts
English tonnage accomptinge twenty hundred wighte to every tonne
