Ad. 5.um affirmat That in the latter end of May of
beginninge of June Laste past stile nove
Bartholomew Barrillaro a [?XXXX] Curriere
or Conductor of monies for the Kinge of
Spaine and Merchants from Madrid to
the sea side, did depart from Madrid with
126 chests of ryalls and barrs of silver then
to bee carried to the Groyne uppon mules
backs, which hee knoweth to bee true for that
hee as then at Madrid and saw the said
Barillaro goe from thence with the said
chests of ryalls and barrs, And hee sayeth
That after the said Barrillero returned from
the Groyne to Madrid, (which was to his
best remembrance about the moneth of
August laste) the said Barrillero did tell
this examinate beeing then alsoe at Madrid
that hee had carried the fore said 126 chests
of ryalls and barrs downe to the Groyne and
had there delivered them into the Kinge of
Spaines Customehouse and thatt they
were there Registered, and that hee the said
Barillero then caused them to bee laden into
the Kinge of Englands shippe: the Victory
(whereof Captaine [?XXXXX] was Commannder,
and that hee had laden seaven hundred and twenty
thousand of the said ryales under the license of the [?arlate]
ffrancisco Maria de [?Parbenetti] and had assigned
two hundred thousand thereof to the use of [?XXX]
