Ad 5um affirmat That after the sayd shipp was off the lands end of
England she was soe leakye and in sufficient that her mariners and company
and passengers were inforced to pumpe every halfe houre , daye and nighte
untill she came to Virginia unlesse it was when the weather was very
fayre and the water was smooth they pumped her but once in an houre
and that if they did lett her pumpe lye still above halfe and hower in foule weather they could but when the winde blewe hard two of the company or of the passengers
stood continually at the pump and every two men pumped her a glasse
which is halfe an houre and then two others pumped her the next glasse
and soe they pumped her every halfe by turnes in foule weather night and
day, and if it had not bene for the passengers that helped to pumpe her
he beleiveth the sayd shipp and her ladinge would have perished in the sea
for that most of the seamen were sicke outwards bound, Et alr nescit deponere/
