Jonathan Bigland (b.ca.1629; d. ?). Shipwright.
Resident in 1657 in Redriff in the county of Surrey.
It is possible that he is related to another shipwright, Edward Bigland, who appears in High Court of Admiralty records in 1650 and 1656 in the borough of Southwark.[1]
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Jonathan Bigland, a twenty-eight year old shipwright, deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on November 3rd 1657. He was examined on an allegation made on the behalf of Judith Dixford in the case "Judith Dixford against the hulke the Elizabeth."[2]
The records of the High Court of Admiralty contain another shipwright with the surname Bigland. This is Edward Bigland, alt. Edwardus Bigland, who was deposed twice, Once on May 14th 1650 and the second time on April 11th 1656.
