Transcription

To the last hee saith hee this deponent hath by letters from the said
hendrick Mathias bin requested to looke after this businesse
to the end to get the said producent restitution of the said goods by him claimed
and saith the said letters came from Amsterdam.

Repeated before the Judges in Court.

The claime of the widowe and heires of}
hendrick [?Jansen] the yonger of Amsterdam}
for their goods in the hare in the ffeild.}

Examined upon the alegation
given in this cause on the behalfe
of the said claimers the 18th
of July 1655,

George Crooke Secretary of his Excellencie the
Lord Embassador of the States of the United
Netherlands, aged 25 yeeres or thereabouts
sorne and examined.

To the seaventh article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that
hee well knoweth and is familiarly acquainted with derrick
hendrickson the younger sonne of the arlate hendrick Janson the younger
which derrick hee saith keepeth the bookes and manageth the traffique
of the familie of the said hendrick, and soe did in the life time of
the said hendrick the father, and knoweth the two sisters of the
said derrick, daughters of the said hendrick, and saith they are all
natives of Amsterdam and Inhabitants of the citie and subiects
of the Lords the States of the United Netherlands, and their mother the
widowe of the said hendrick is alsoe an Inhabitant and subiect
there, and for such the said producents were and are commonly accompted
and reputed. The premisses hee deposeth being himselfe a
native of Amsterdam, and very conversant for theise seaven or
eight yeares last with the said derrick, and well know[?XXX] [?therest],
And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving the said widowe and sonne
and two daughters and another sonne [?XXX] this deponent knoweth not
were and are the heires of the said hendrick Janson the younger.

To the first hee saith hee this deponent is a native of Amsterdam
and hath dwelt about two yeares last in England, and before that hee was
travailing about two yeares in ffrance, Italy and Germany, and before
that hee lived alwaies in holland. And otherwise negatively.

To the second hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and cannot
otherwise answer.

To the third and fourth hee cannot answer for hee was not in the
voyage in question.

To the 5th hee hath not soe deposed.

To the 6 and 7 hee cannot depose.

To the 8th hee hath not soe deposed.

To the 9th negatively.
