and plate soe bought and laden for their accompt, and drew the same<br />
by the waye of Sevill, namely the payment of the one halfe on<br />
the said Puiquet and the other halfe on the said Boscaert, and for<br />
that soe drawne on the said Boscaert hee saith it was by the<br />
said de la Sierpes order drawne on him by Giles and Michael<br />
Dieusart of Sevill by 6 bills of exchange for soe much money in ducats<br />
as amounted to 5900 ducats payable to Christofer Dieusart John<br />
Alst and others at Antwerp, which the said producent George Boscaert<br />
accepted and hath paid the same by this deponents hands, and this deponent<br />
was present and sawe the payment made by the said Puiquet at<br />
Antwerp for the halfe soe drawne on him alsoe by exchange and for that soe drawne on Mr Boschaert hee leaveth an abstract thereof taken by this deponent of his [?bills ?of ?exchange]. And<br />
saith the said producents alone have and doe runn the hazard and adventure of the<br />
said plate and that noe hollander or ffrench man or subiect of the<br />
States of the United Neherlands or of the ffrench kinge had or hath<br />
any interest or share whatsoever therein, which hee knoweth for the<br />
reasons aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving the said George<br />
Boschaert within the time arlate sent diverse goods to Cadiz, and the said de la Sierpe had goods and effects<br />
of his in his hands
To the nineth article hee saith and deposeth that hee hath knowne<br />
the said ffrancis de la Sierpe for theise seaven yeares last past during<br />
all which time hee hath lived and dwelt in Cadiz in the dominion of<br />
the kinge of Spaine, and was and is a subiect of the said kinge and<br />
for such and a native of fflanders, and noe subiect of the States of<br />
the United Netherlands or of the ffrench kinge hee the said ffrancis<br />
was and is commonly accompted and reputed, And otherwise hee cannot<br />
depose.
To the tenth hee saith hee hath well knowne the arlate Peter Lams<br />
for theise two yeares last, during which time hee hath lived and liveth<br />
at present in Ostend, and was and is a subiect of the kinge of<br />
Spaine and for such commonly accompted and reputed and noe subiect<br />
of the said States or ffrench kinge, and saith the said producents made<br />
use of his name for the more comodious taking up the said plate by him<br />
to be sent to Antwerp, and that in regard of the said Peters dwelling in<br />
Ostend where the said shipp was to have arived. And otherwise hee cannot<br />
depose, saving that there is amitie betwixt the kinge of Spaine and<br />
this Commonwealth.
To the 11th hee saith hee hath knowne the said James Pinquet alsoe<br />
about two yeares last and Mr Boschaert about for seaven yeares last<br />
and that the said Boschaart was and is a hamburger borne where this<br />
deponent was alsoe borne and well knoweth his friends, and hath lived<br />
in Antwerp for all the said time of this deponents knowledge of him and there<br />
liveth at present, where the said producent Boschaert<br />
hath alsoe lived about two yeares last and before that at Cadiz for<br />
five yeares for all which time this deponent hath dwelt with him in<br />
the said places, and neither the said Boschaart or Puiquet were or are<br />
subiects of the States aforesaid or ffrench kinge, but are subiects of<br />
the kinge of Spaine, and were and are merchants of good accompt<br />
and for such commonly accompted. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 12th hee saith that after the said lading of the said plate the<br />
said shipps as hee hath heard in their course for Ostend were seized by the<br />
Parliaments shipps together with the said plate in them. And otherwise hee cannot<br />
depose
