shipps ''Joseph Marias'' aboade at Malega, this deponent and<br />
severall other English belonging to English Shipps then there<br />
told the said Captaine of the said Genowesse vessell that the<br />
English would meete with them before they gott to Amsterdam<br />
the Master and others of his Company replyed that they cared<br />
not a ffart for the English for they had friends enough abroad<br />
to guard them or words to the same or like Effect. And saith<br />
there were onboard two pilotts, which<br />
were said to bee Dutch men and as they acknowledged<br />
themselves to bee, Namely hee hath bin told by the Clubfooted fellowe<br />
(one of the pilotts) that hee was borne and lived severall yeers together<br />
at Amsterdam, but that he now lived with his wife at Alicant And some<br />
of the ''Petuches'' Company hee saith declared to this deponent that a young<br />
fellow (a Cooke) was borne at Schedam. And saith that when this<br />
deponent, who was Masters mate of a merchtman the ''John'' of<br />
London John Nansun Captaine<br />
came away hee left the said Ostend man of warr as also the Hamburger<br />
and his fleete and the Genewesse ''Petache'' all behind them at Malega<br />
and if the said Genewesse vessell had bin bound for Hamborow she<br />
might have gonn in Company with the Hamborow ffleete or convoy<br />
which she did not, as this deponent hath bin informed or with Sir Jeremy Smith and<br />
the English Squadron and merchantmen, Which as hee heard<br />
she never did, But saith this deponent and severall other<br />
English merchants then looked upon her to bee bound for Amsterdam<br />
and to have Dutch lading on board ffor that Hamburgers now<br />
and have ?done ever since the beginning of this warr<br />
ffetched and doe ffetch their owne goods from Genoa and other<br />
places in the Streights and send out good shipps for that purpose. And<br />
saith that many more (that are now in his Majestys service) could and<br />
can witnesse the same that this deponent hathe before deposedme that this deponent hathe before deposed +
