'''Laurence Tyrer''' of Liverpool in Lancashire<br /> Mariner aged 25 yeeres or thereabouts<br /> sworne and Examined./: To the first Interrogatorie hee sauith hee well knoweth the ffrigot<br /> the ''Henrietta maria'', and soe hath done for about<br /> Eleven monethes since, And saith that shee is of about<br /> Thirty tonns burthen, And saith that Captaine George Dowdall<br /> was her Captaine and Commander. To the second and thir Interrogatories hee saith that in or about<br /> the moneth of July last past His Royall Highnes James<br /> Duke of Yorke Lord high Admirall of England did grant<br /> a Commission to the said Captaine Dowdall to take with the<br /> said ffrigot the ships and goods belonging to any Person in<br /> actuall Rebellion against his Sacred Majesty Charles the<br /> Second, our Soveraigne Lord and King which Commission this Deponent<br /> hath often seene and read part thereof, and doth beleeve<br /> the schedule Interrate annexed to the said Interrogatories and<br /> by him read, to be a Copy thereof. And<br /> further cannot Depose/: To the 4th. and 5th. hee saith that the said Captaine Dowdall<br /> and Company whereof this Deponent was one came with the<br /> said ffrigot ''Henrietta Maria'' in the Road of Mumbles in the<br /> beginning of May last past, and saith that about Seaven or Eight<br /> dayes after, His Sacred Majesty Charles the Second by the Grace<br /> of God, King of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland, was<br /> Proclaimed at Swansey and alsoe on board the said ffrigot<br /> by Colonel ffreeman, Governour of Cardiffe Castle, And the<br /> said Captaine Dowdall and Company were very Joyfull<br /> thereof, and fired all their Gunns, and uttered many expressions<br /> of Joy and hung up the Kings Colours and from that time<br /> desisted from any hostile actions against the English or<br /> any of his said Majestyes Subjects of this Deponents knowledge<br /> and although they could have seized severall English vessells<br /> and ships after the said Proclamation yet they would not nor<br /> did soe much as stop them, but submitted.
