tooke speciall notice thereof that the say … tooke speciall notice thereof that the sayd Christopher Nock<br />
during the voyage in question did lye ashoare and absent him=<br />
selfe for the space of about eight or tenn nights and the greatest part<br />
of the dayes of those nights And hee saith that divers of the<br />
Company of the sayd shipp to the number of 14 videlicet Abraham C[arr GUTTER]<br />

John Jackson Henry ffoot William Richbill Nicholas Miller Richard<br />
Brookes aforesayd ffrancis Williams William Toft Robert Collier and<br />
Thomas Richards did at Zant in the moneth of June 1655 deserte the<br />
sayd shipp the ''George Bonadventure'' and keepe on shoare<br />
and sayd they would not come on board till they<br />
had two moneths pay paid them whereupon the Master of the sayd<br />
shipp and Mr dobson factor of the sayd Mr ffarington did cause them<br />
to be seized upon Souldiers and át length the Consull with<br />
much persuasion prevailed with them to goe on board againe the<br />
Master causing them to bee paid one moneths pay and thereupon<br />
this deponent did by order of the sayd Master and the sayd dobson pay<br />
unto all the shipps company who desyred the same (among which<br />
the parties plaintiff in this suite were comprehended) one<br />
Moneths pay And this deponent heard the sayd Abraham<br />
Carr saye to the sayd Neck that he sayd Neck was consenting<br />
to the sayd desertion of the sayd shipp and had given in his<br />
name and that by that meanes hee the sayd Carr might come to<br />
Carr to write downe all the names of those who<br />
consented to desert the sayd shipp and amongst the rest his the sayd Nocks<br />
name and that by that meanes hee the sayd Carr might come to<br />
loose his wages, and that the sayd Neck put him the sayd Carr first<br />
upon the busines, and then slunke his neck out of the Coller and<br />
would not goe with them for which the sayd Carr told the sayd<br />
Nock hee was a rogue and hee would beate him wheresoever hee<br />
met him on shoare and gave the sayd Neck other opprobrious<br />
words for which the Master of the sayd shipp would have<br />
punished the sayd Carr but neither his mates<br />
nor the sayd Nock the Boatswaine would assiste or<br />
endeavour to cause the rest of the Company to assist the Master<br />
therein. And hee alsoe saith that hee this deponent well knoweth that at such<br />
tyme as the sayd shipp came from Leghorne arlate which was<br />
in the moneth of January 1655 the sayd Neck and one Robert<br />
Morecock the Carpenters Mate were a shoare about [XXX XXX XXXX GUTTER]<br />
before the sayd shipp sett sale and when shee sett sayle, soe the<br />
the shipp stayed and hovered and turned up and downe allmost[e GUTTER]<br />
a whole day expecting their comming in board and sent a<br />
boate a shoare to fetch them, which they kept till almost<br />
night and then came aboard in it And further to this article hee<br />
