To the fifth article he deposeth and saith That the arlate William<br />
ffowke came to Petras on the nineteenth of September 1654<br />
and that he this deponent and others the factors and Agents of<br />
the producents sispecting that he was come thither to make some<br />
disturbance about the said Currance, he this deponent did<br />
make him acquainted with the bargaine predeposed of, and<br />
that the said ffowke promised him this deponent and have<br />
him his hand upon it that he would not in the least manner<br />
didturbe them in their having or receiving the said Currance<br />
according to the said bargaine, and that he would rather further<br />
or assist them then hinder them therin, And that notwithstanding<br />
his being acquainted with the said bargaine, And his said promise<br />
he the sayd ffowke did without ant consent from the<br />
(Vice Consull (the Consull being then dead) goe privately to the<br />
Bashaw, and that (as this deponent was told there in the<br />
Country) he gave presents and moneys to deprive the Agents<br />
of the producents of receiving the remainder of the said Currance<br />
And further he cannot depose.
To the sixth article he deposeth and saith that the arlate William<br />
ffowke did with the assistance of one Antonio Tappeno (a crafty<br />
Rogue, one who lay in chains and had for his villanyes his head<br />
and beard shaven, whose release the said ffowke purchased<br />
on purpose to helpe him in his proiect of getting the remaining<br />
Currance from the agents of the producents soe prevayle<br />
with some of the cheifest of the Country upon presents and<br />
promises to take off all their oyles, and upon a false<br />
information that the said shipp the ''Morea Merchant'' had taken<br />
in some Corne, that the Country people would not deliver<br />
unto the Agents of the said Taylor and Company, the remainder<br />
of the said Petras Currance about 18 thousand weight<br />
though bargained and in part payd for, And that inthe<br />
beginning of October 1654 a boate laden with the remainder<br />
of the said Lepanto Currance to bee putt on borard the<br />
arlate shipp the ''Morea Merchant'' was by the sayd<br />
William ffowke (in this deponents sight) taken away by<br />
force, there being at the time of the sayd forceable seizure<br />
with the said ffowke, one Page an Englishman, and one<br />
Sebas a Janisary and others of the Country, and that at<br />
the time of the said seizure there was in the said boate a<br />
servant of the producents factors and a servant of the Turke<br />
who was Owner of the Currance then in the sayd boate and<br />
that the Currance in the said Boate were about 12000 ''lb'' weight<br />
And further he cannot depose.
To the 7th he deposeth that the Country people being by the<br />
subtle and crafty insinuations of the said ffowke and his<br />
instrument Anthonio Tappens [?XXXXX] against the said<br />
shipps Company the ''Morea Merchant'', they did not deliver<br />
the remainder of the said Petras Currance being about<br />
18 thousand weight unto the said producents Agents, and he the<br />
