To the 6th Interrogatorie hee saith that hee this rendent (a little before his<br />
and the sayd Purses goeing away as aforesayd at fower a clock in the afternoone)<br />
did scoope out a little water which was in the well roome of the sayd<br />
open lighter wherein the damage controverted happened, but by vertue of his<br />
oath hee hath taken doth positively affirme, that the plugg of the sayd lyter was<br />
in and fast as it ought to bee, and was noe way loosened by him this rendent<br />
nor the sayd Purse, but the lighter was by them then left safe drye and<br />
in good condition, and saith hee this rendent and the sayd Purse came noe<br />
more to the sayd lighter till about 7 of the clock the next morning, nor<br />
knoweth not, nor hath heard of any one else that did, and by what meanes<br />
the sayd damage Interrogat happened hee knoweth not for that hee knoweth<br />
the sayd lighter was by him this rendent and the sayd Purse left safe and well<br />
and her plugg fast, and whether the sayd plugg were afterwards out or by what<br />
means it came out hee knoweth not And further hee cannot answere/
