retaken, which hee knoweth, having undertaken to pay for the salvage of her upon sentence given in this Court. And<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose, saving the said mary Shotton hath had noe [?part]<br />
or recompence out of the said shipp upon the said Salvage, shee having before<br />
[?commuted] her interest therein to the Assurers.

To the first hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and otherwise hee<br />
cannot answare, saving hee saith it cost this deponent and the said<br />
Allen to fitt the said shipp out hence on the<br />
voyage shee last went hence (which was about a yeare and halfe before shee<br />
came to Brist[?a]ll) the summe of six hundred pounds sterlinge or thereabouts<br />
the said Allen being then alive, and thus much hee saith it cost tp fitt<br />
her in respect of her hull alone, without victualls, And otherwise hee<br />
cannot depose.
To the second hee cannot depose because hee was not in the voyage.
To the third hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and saith that<br />
by agreement there is only tenn pounds or thereabouts to be paid for<br />
the salvage of the said vessell, shee being rescued by a marchant man<br />
and not a man of warr; the name of which marchant man hee remembreth<br />
not./

of Amsterdam for the shipp ''Charitie''.}
Examined upon an allegation given in on the<br />
behalfe of the said [?Goodwines].

and for the states [?copies/]/
'''Derrick Arentson''' of Amsterdam mariner<br />
aged 24 yeares or thereabouts, sworne and<br />
examined saith as followeth videlicet.
To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that hee<br />
well knoweth the producents Anthony and Lewis Good[XXX] and Adrian<br />
Go[?uarts] and saith they were the time arlate and are the true and lawfull<br />
owners and proprietors of the said shipp the ''Charitie'' alias the ''Love'' arlate<br />
and of her tackle apparell, furniture and lading of coales arlate and soe<br />
commonly accompted, which hee knoweth being master of the said shipp. And<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the second article hee deposeth that within the said time videlicet in the<br />
moneth of July last past the said producents did sett out and imploy<br />
the said shipp the ''Charitie'' alias the ''Love'' to goe and saile from the<br />
port of Rotterdam for Newcastle to lade coales, and to carry and<br />
transport the same for Rotterdam to and for the use and accompt of the<br />
said producents, and accordingly the said shipp comming to the said port<br />
of Newcastle, did there take in her lading of coales, and departed<br />
therewith for Rotterdam for the said accompt, and in her course for<br />
Rotterdam the said shipp and lading were met with and seized by a pirate<br />
or sea rover and shortly after rescued and retaken by two of the<br />
Parliaments shipps, (the Captaine of one whereof was (as hee taketh it)<br />
named Captaine [?kinge]) and by them brought into dover. All which hee<br />
knoweth being master as aforesaid of the said shipp the ''Charitie'' alias the<br />
''Love'' and imployed by his said owners on the said designe of lading Coales,<br />
and being aboard her when shee was soe taken by the pirate, and comming<br />
afterwards to dover where hee saw her. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third article hee saith and deposeth that the said shipp the ''Charitie''<br />
alias the ''Love'' soe sett out from Rotterdam and which tooke in her said<br />
lading of coales and the said shipp the ''Charitie'' alias the ''Love'' soe rescued<br />
and retaken and brought into dover were and are one and the same<br />
shipp and lading and not diverse, which hee knoweth because hee sawe the same at<br />
dover upon the said bringing in thither, And otherwise hee cannot depose.
