To the fowrth hee saith the said skipper was to pay this deponent and thereof<br />
of the said company their wages, and that the owners vivtualled the shipp<br />
which had victualls of cheese, butter beefe, fish, [?griXX], [XXXXXX] and thae<br />
like for tenn monethes tyme for her said company or thereabouts, And<br />
further hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 5th hee saith hee doth not knowe the interrogated Rocas P[arnes].
To the 6th hee saith that all the powder that was aboard the said shipp<br />
when shee was seized, was laden at Rotterdam, and that hee this deponent<br />
was spoken to to serve in her, and in that relation hee frequented her<br />
about five weekes space before shee set saile, and all that time hee<br />
knewe that shee should goe for Bourdeaux, And otherwise hee cannot answere
To the 7th hee saith that the said shipp was taken by the ''Nico?damus''<br />
betwixt Plimouth and ffalmouth, and otherwise negatively, saving<br />
the Skipper then had the care and charge of her and her lading.
To the 8th hee saith that the said shipp put into Go[XXXX] [?Gat] through fowle<br />
weather and staid there about three dayes to attend the comming of the [XXXX]<br />
[XXXX], and the rest of the time betwixt her departure from Rotterdam and<br />
her seizure shee was in her way for Bourdeaux, and otherwise hee<br />
answereth negatively.
To the 9th hee saith the said shipp hath ever since her first building<br />
bin named the ''Rat van Aventure'', and had never any other name, and<br />
hee never heard that any Scotchman or other than the said Jacobson was<br />
designed to goe master of her.
To the 10th hee cannot answer.
To the 11th hee saith that hee this deponent told the Captaine of the ''NichoXXX'']<br />
the truth in all that hee demanded of him and never denied ought<br />
touching the shipps goods or the powder. match or shott aboard her.
To the 12th hee saith that 100 barrells of powder interrogated laie not<br />
under b[XXX] ypon the ballast and were covered with deales to prevent danger<br />
of [?fire], and otherwise negatively.

aged 27 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that hee well knoweth<br />
the producents Abraham Pan[XXX] and company and saith that they have bin and<br />
are commonly accompted the true and lawfull owners and the shipp the ''Rat van''<br />
''Aventure'' or ''wheele of ffortune'' arlate and of her tackle and furniture, which they<br />
built this summer, which hee knoweth being Carpenter of the said shipp this<br />
voyage, and helping to finish the said worke of her building.
To the second hee saith that within the time arlate the said shipp was freighted<br />
by a merchant of Rotterdam whose name hee doth not remember to goe to<br />
Bourdeaux, where shee was to take in her merchant or sopra Cargo, which merchant<br />
freighter before her proceeding from Rotterdam laden aboard her 100 barrells of<br />
Gunnpowder and two cases of other goods (the contents of which cases or packs<br />
hee knoweth not) to be carried out and disposed of in the said voyage being<br />
a merchants voyage, which hee knoweth because hee this deponent helped to [stowe]<br />
the said goods, and was hired to serve in the said Merchandizeing voyage, And<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third hee saith and deposeth that the said ship set saile with the said powder<br />
and other goods from Rotterdam on the said voyage on or about the 11th of August<br />
last newe stile,) and about tenn dayes after such her departure shee was at sea<br />
