aged 27 yeares or thereabouts sworne the day above said<br />
before the right Worshipfull William Clerke doctor of<br />
lawes one of the Judges of the high Court of the<br />
Admiraltie and examined upon Interrogatories touching<br />
the said shipp the ''hope'' saith as followeth.
To the first Interrogatpry hee saith and deposeth that the shipp the
''hope'' arlate (whereof hee this deponent was boatswaine) was about<br />
a moneth since taken by an Irish sloope a man of warr about 17. or 18<br />
leagues Eastward of the Isle of Wight on the coast of England<br />
neere the shore, and being soe taken and carried by the said man of warr<br />
to haver de Grace to get provisions, and being there at anchor about<br />
halfe an English mile from shore shee was taken and seized by the frigot arlate named the<br />
''Starre'' (Robert Sannders commannder) in consortshipp with the shipp<br />
the ''Paradox'' (Captaine Cole commannder) which hee knoweth because<br />
hee was then present aboard the said shipp the ''hope'' and was alsoe taken<br />
in her, Et alr nescit.
