1. said kings officers upon release of any sequetration did usually and commonly XXX a
2. deduct out of the moneys belonging to the owners of any the English shipps
3. sequestred a teston a day for the master and halfe a teston a day for each
4. mariner for their maintenance, which for the master and seaven mariners
5. for 159 dayes at 450 d comes to 450 Mil Rès per day, and for 150 dayes
6. to 71 mil 550 Rès; and consequently for the master and foure mariners
7. for 126 dayes ˹comes to 37 mil 800 Res at˺ are and about or after the said comes to 300 Res per day;
8. And this deponent was severall times at Port a port in Portugall ˹whither the shipp the Hopegood (Rich John hayward master) XX there XXXXXX˺ and sawe
9. severall English the masterX and mariners ˹thereof˺ while they were under the said sequestration
10. ˹severall times˺ goe and receive after that rate of the kings officers there ˹for their maintenance˺; and this
11. deponent ˹at Anaire˺ clearing a shipp of Plimouth called the fellow shipp from
12. sequestration, the said kings officers deducted after the rate aforesaid
13. for the maintenance after of her mariners out of the proceeds of goods

26. To the fifth Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that hee this deponent
27. hath bin a marchant and factor resident at Aveiro in Portugall for theise
28. seaven yeares last or thereabouts, and was residing in Portugall both
29. at the time of the Generall sequestration of the English marchants goods
30. in the yeere 1650 and at the time of the Release of the said sequestration,
31. and was in that time at Port a port and sawe the shipps the Swann
32. aforesaid and the shipp hopegood ˹John Hayward master˺ lie there under the said sequestration
33. and sawe their masters and mariners severall times goe and receive
34. for their maintenance of the kinge of Portugalls officers after a teston
35. a day for the master and halfe a teston a day for each mariner; which
36. rate hee saith was the XXX constant and ordinary rate allowed to
37. English masters and mariners by the said ˹kings˺ officers in all his XXXXX of ˹these parts of Portugall˺
38. and after that rate this deponent paid upon And when any shipp

41. Plimouth was faine to make allowance accordingly to the said officers,
42. they deducting after that rate. And saith that after the rate aforesaid,
43. the allowance for a master and 18 mariners for 159 dayes came to 159 Mil Rès,
44. and for a master and 6 mariners for 126 yee dayes to 5XXX 50 mil 400 Rès,
45. and for 4 dayes more 1 mil X 600 Rès.
