On the same day and upon the same
Allegation Examined.

Mathias Beckman of the parishe of Saint
Sepulchre upon Newgate London Cittizen and
draper of London aged 34 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and Examined.
To the 6th article of the said Allegation upon which hee is only
Examined by the direction of the partie producent hee saith and
deposeth That hee this deponent doeth very well knowe Monsieur
Phillip de Poyntsey the Governour of and for the ffrench upon the
Iland of Saint Christopher and hath soe done by the space of
thieis twelve yeares and upwards and even ever since his first
comeing to beare that Comand there. And saith that dureing
all the said tyme hee the said Governour was and still is a
person Very well affected to the Englishe then and now
Inhabeting upon the said Iland. And saith that his good
affections to [XXXX] readinesse to assist the English from tyme
to tyme was and still is such that for soe doeing hee is
rendred a person very civilly affected to or rather an open Enemy
of the Crowne and Court of ffrance All which hee knoweth
because that for about six of the said yeares predeposed hee
this deponent did Live and inhabite neere unto the ffrench
in the said Iland and in that tyme had many Experiences of
the said Goverbours good affection to this deponent and others of this
Nation upon any occasion And since his this deponents comeing
from thence hee hath (and that very Latelye too) receaved
severall letters of Advice from his Correspondents there of the
Continuance of his the said ffrench Governours well affectednesse
to the Englishe the Subiects of this Commonwealth liveing
upon the Iland of Saint Christopher And otherwise hee cannot
depose.

To the ffirst. 2d. 3d. 4. 5. 6. and 7th Interrogatories hee referreth
himselfe to his foregoeing deposition And otherwise hee
saith hee cannot depose

Upon the Allegation of trhe said ffishman given the 11th
of July 1651 Examined../
Hugh Oldry of Lime house in the parish of Stepney in the County
of Middlesex Marriner aged 33 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined
deposeth as followeth./
To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth That upon the 3e
of [?May] 1650, he this deponent came aboard the shipp the Adventure arlate
being hyred by the said William ffishman to goe and saile therein as Masters Mate the
voyage in question, from which time hee saith that the said William ffishman the
