arlate hath [?challenged] one Mr Laurance of Ipswich his shipp with doing
him the dammage in question.
To the third hee saith that the said voyage at Newcastle, the Bowe of the
said shipp the dove was not mended or altered in regard of her having
come fowle of any shipp, but because a peece in her bowe was rotten
and not serviceable, And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the fourth hee saith hee this deponent hath nnever said that the
said shipp the dove did at any time come fowle or touch or doe
any damage to the Successe arlate, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the first hee saith there were twelve men and a boy of the
doves company the said voyage, and otherwise hee remembreth not
saving as aforesaid.

To the 4th hee saith that to his remembrance it was upon a wednesday
that the said shipp the dove went out of Winterton, and saith
there were foure shipps went out thence in her company, but the
names of the masters or shipps hee knoweth not, and otherwise
hee answereth negatively.
To the 5th hee answereth negatively for his part, and
otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 6th hee saith that all his wages for the said voyage hath
bin paid him eight or nine weekes agoe, and otherwise
negatively.

To the second hee saith that this deponent tooke in hand to mend
the said bowe of the dove within a day or two after her arivall at
Newcastle, and saith that searching the said shipp for leakes
this deponent found the foresaid rotten peace in the head, and
soe mended the same, and for his part hee did (sic) knowe that it
was defective when shee proceeded hence, but having found it at
Newcastle hee held it expedient to mend it there, And otherwise hee
cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
