the Tower of London Mariner late Master of the Olive
Branche aged 47 yeares or thereabouts a witness
sworne and examined saith and deposeth as
followeth videlicet./
To the first article of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this
deponent being Master and Commander of a ship called the Olive Branch
and lyeing therewith at Saint Lucar during the moneths of December
January and a great part of ffebruary 1654 did thereby well see
and observe that the arlate Edward Keene in and during the sayd
tyme had and tooke upon him the care charge and government of the arlate ship the John
and Elizabeth and was Commonly reputed to be Master and alsoe

saye and acknowledge him selfe soe to be and further to this article hee
cannot depose./

which hee was then bound upon was from London to Santa Cruz in the Island
of Palma one of the Canarie Islands, where hee was to unlade his sayd
shipps ladeing and take in other goods and returne therewith for London or to that effect And saith
that hee this deponent at his coming into Saint Lucar
in the moneth of December 1654 with his ship the Olive Branch found
the sayd Keene and his ship or Catch the John and Elizabeth in the harbour of Saint Lucar
where after this deponents coming the sayd Keene did unlade his
goods brought from London And further to these articles saving his subsequent
deposition hee cannot depose for that hee this deponent is noe witness to the Charter
party nor heard any conference which passed betwixt the sayd Keene and
any of the Correspondents of the arlate Mr Cowse to the effect arlate/
