the West Indies to England, and therein expended a greate summe
of money on the behalfe of the said Rumbida, amounting as hee beleeveth
to 800 li sterling, referring him selfe to the said accompts, and saith
the said Rumbida by his letters promised to pay and satisfie the
producent for the same. And othewise hee cannot depose.
To the 15th hee saith that it is usuall and customary amongest marchants
to allowe for provisiontwo per cent for goods bought and provided
by one marchant for another to be transported for Spaine or elsewhether
upon the whole amount of the said goods, referring himselfe
to the said schedules for the summe due for provision upon those
goods upon the summes therein contained. And otherwise hee cannot
depose
To the 16th hee saith that hee findes by the said entries and accompts
(which hee beleeveth to be true) that in the yeare 1655 the arlate Joseph da
Learte and company upon and for the accompt of the said Rumbida drew
a bill of exchange upon the said Rumbida for the summe of 1050 peeces of eight amounting to 211 sterling, which
bill the said Rumbida gave order to the said producent to accept and to pay the said money upon the
said Rumbidas accompt and the said producent accordingly paid the same
which letters of the said Rumbidas umporting the said order hee this
deponent hath seene, as hee saith. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 17th hee saith that in and by the said booke it appeareth
that teh said producent by order and on behalfe of the said Rumbida
and for his accompt, paid and satisfied for assurance of part of the
foresaid goods the summe of 34 li - 10 s, which the said Rumbida by his letters
promised to repay unto him.
To the 18th hee saith that by good intelligence of severall letters which this
deponent hath seene from holland, the said Marcus de la Rumbida there
confessed that hee was owner of the shipp the Saint Mary arlate and
of her tackle and furniture, and that for owner thereof hee was and
is at Amsterdam commonly accompted and reputed, and that hee was
in possession and went himselfe from holland as Captaine of her this
last voyage. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 19th hee referreth himselfe to the Registrie of this Court
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition was and is true.
