Jacob Van den Ende of fflushing in Zealand Mariner
Master of the shipp the Meremayde aged 34 yeares or there
abouts a wittnes sworne and examined saith and deposeth
as followeth videlicet./
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee well knoweth the Shipp the Meremayde Interro=
gate, being Master of her when shee was seized and hath soe knowne her for the space
of eleven moneths last past and saith shee belongeth to fflushing in Zealand and
saith the Interrogant Peter Van Re John Schoer Giles Rombergh Vincent Ketelaer
and Peter de Jardin all Inhabitants and Natives of fflushing and subiects
of the states of the United Provinces were and are the true and lawfull
owners and proprietors of the sayd shipp her tackle apparrell and furniture
this hee the better knoweth for that hee received of every of the sayd Owners his proportionable
share to pay for the sayd shipp when shee was by them bought And further to

To the 2. hee saith that the shipp when shee went last out of Europe upon
the voyage Interrogate went last from fflushing, and that her ladeing which
was seized in her was taken in and laded at Winnemarie in the wilde
coast of the West Indies And saith the ladeing seized in the sayd shipp which was all Sea Cowes did
wholely belong to the owners of the sayd shipp before named saving that
hee this deponent and his stiersman had a parcell of sea cowes on board
the sayd shipp at her seizure for their owne Accompt worth to the value of
one hundred and two pounds nyne shillings and fower groate flemish money and
saving that his shipps company had alsoe some smale parcells of the like ladeing then
aboard her for their owne Accompt but to what value hee knoweth not And
saith the whole ladeing of the sayd shipp which was in her at her seizure
was five hundred and twenty sea Cowes but the value of them hee cannot
estimate for that in some places they would have yeilded more then they would
in others according to the marketts they should have come to And further to
this Interrogatorie hee cannot answere./
