Transcription

To the first, second, third and fourth articles, hee saith that the
said shipp the Liesde or Love was and is commonly said and
reputed to belong to the port of Amsterdam, but hee knoweth not
Phillip van Hulten, nor who is her owner, And otherwise hee
cannot depose, but comming aboard her at Cadiz, saving
at Santa Cruse shee tooke in her lading of Campecha wood for
Amsterdam, and being in her course for Amsterdam shee was
seized by the Dartmouth frigot, and carried into the downes, and
thence by the English Admirall sent unto the River of Thames
where shee now is, which hee knoweth foing Stiersman of her
the said voyage from Cadiz to Santa Cruz, and thence to the time of
her said seizure.

To the second and third hee saith the said Garret Grab hath
bin master of the said shipp as longe as this deponent hath served
in her as aforesaid and came master of her to Cadiz where this
deponent came first aboard her, and that there is not nor was
any other master of her for that time of this deponents serving in her
but only the said Gerrard, whose company consisted of eight men
(besides himselfe) and a boy at the time of the seizure, all who
are hollanders and freizlanders, and one hamburger, and a dane
