Transcription

(which hee saith it did not) hee this deponent should beare ashare thereof
and otherwise, saving as aforesaid.

To the second hee saith thatthe said linnen came wet and damp aboard as aforesaid
referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the third hee cannot depose for hee saith it was in the evening and
arkish when the lighter interrate came aboard.

To the fourth hee cannot depose.

To the fifth negatively for his part and otherwise cannot answer.

To the 6th hee saith that the said linnens were delivered out of the said
shipp in such condition as they were laden aboard her saving the dammage happened by storme, and that some peeces
thereof were reasonable drie, And otherwise hee cannot answer saving the
linnens were [?XXXd] in the middle of the shipp.

To the seaventh hee saith that those peeces which were reasonable drie and
those which were wet lay intermingled aboard, And otherwise hee cannot depose

To the eighth hee saith the said linnens were stowed in a convenient
place of the shipp and where the master and company tooke them to be safe,
And otherwise (saving negatively for his part) hee cannot answer.

To the 9th hee saith the said linnens were put into an open lighter, but
covered with a greate saile that the snowe could not hurt them. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

Michael Norman pilote of the said shipp the Saint
Jacob, aged 40 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth
that the shipp the Saint Jacob arlate the time arlate was in the port
of Lieba, and whilest shee there remained namely on or about the
twentieth day of September last past there happened a very violent
storme with the winde at West Norewest, which lasted in great
extremitie for the space of two dayes and nights together, and that by
the violence of the said storme, the boate belonging to the said shipp
was taken and carried away and utterly lost, and the shipp her selfe
put into greate perill of being cast away with her master and Company
which hee knoweth because hee was then one of the said shipps
company and thereby came to take notice of the premisses. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.
