Twenty-two year old Mathew Purdye deposed on June 25th 1650 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined in the case of "Hans Claeson and Company against Broadgate and Willson et cetera".

The case concerned the Flemish ship the Saint Jacob (Master: Hance Claeson) and a second ship the Phillips (Master: Richard Hussee).
