IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN the fifteenth day of ffebruary One Thousand sixe hundred thirty five in the Eleventh yeare of the raigne of our sovereigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of King of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland defender of the faith I JOHN ACTON CITIZEN AND GOLDSMITH of London being sick and weake in Body but of good and perfect memory (praysed be God therefore) doe make and declare my last will and Testament in manner and forme following That is to say

FFIRST I commend and committ my soule into the handes of Almighty God in full assurance and confidence to be made partaker of the eternall happines in the kingdome of heaven by the only meritts mediation and intercession of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, My body I comitt to the earth in hope of a ioyfull resurrection The burial whereon (sic) I leave to the discretion of my wife And as touching the devising and disposing of such goods Chattells and estate as God hath lent me in this world I give and dispose the same as followeth That is to say

FFIRST I will that all such debts as are truely owing by mee to any person or persons shalbe paid according to equitie and good conscience And after my debts shalbe paid and funerall discharged I will that parts and portccons whereof One Third part I leave to my wife according to the custome of London And one other third parte thereof according to the same Custome I leave to my foure children unadvanced (vizt) Thomas, Edward, Jane and Martha to be equally and part and part like parted and devided betweene them And the other third part thereof I give and bequeath as foloweth That is to saie

FFIRST I doe remitt release and forgive to my sonne in lawe Richard Boraston the summe of one hundred pounds w:ch he oweth me

ITEM I give to my daughter Blandina fforster my lease and all my estate and Terme to come of and in the messuage of Tenement w:th thappurtenances In Redcrossestreete London now in the tenure or occupaccon of my sonne Reginald fforster her husband and all writings concerneing the same

ITEM I give to my daughter fforsters two children One hundred poundes a peece.

ITEM I give to Blandina my loving wife my lease and all my estate and terme to come of and in my now dwelling house w:th the appurtenances in Westcheape als Cheapside in London: upon condiccon that she shall not have or clayme any dower Thirds right or title of in or to my ffreehold Messuages landes Tenem:ts and hereditaments or any of them And if she shall not w:thin one month next after request by writing under her hand and seale lawfully and sufficiently remise and release to my sonne John Acton and heires all her dower Thirdes and right and title of dower and Thirdes of in and to all and singular my freehold Messuage lands Tenements and hereditaments Then I give my said lease and all my estate and Terme to come of in and to the same my dwelling house w:th all writeings concerning the same unto my said sonne John Acton

ITEM I give to my said foure children Thomas Edward Jane and Martha the summe of One hundred and fiftie poundes a peece.

ITEM I give to the Company of Goldsmiths London One silver and guilt Cupp and Cover weighing fiftie Ounces or thereabouts.

ITEM I give to poore workmen platemakers such as my sonne John shall thinke fitt and that shall have most need to be relieved the summe of fortie poundes And I will that he shall not give to any one Workman above fortie shillings.

ITEM I give to the reliefe of those poore children harboured in Christs Hospitall Twentie poundes.

ITEM I give to my brother Anthony Acton fortie poundes.

ITEM I give to my cozen Gilbert ??Rashall five poundes.

ITEM I give to my Cousen John Wray ffortie shillings

ITEM I give to my sister Alice ?Logins five poundes.

ITEM I give to the reliefe of the poore of the parish of ?Emeley in the County of Worcester five pounds to be paid to the Churchwardens of the said parish for the tyme being And by them w:th the advice and consent of my brother Anthony Acton to be distributed to men that have most need and are fitt to be relieved

ITEM I give to my sonne John Acton All such money as is owing or payable to me by the Kings Ma:tie Uppon condiccon that hee doe discharge my executrix in convenient tyme of all such money, gould and plate as hath beene delivered to me uppon accompt for his Ma:ties service. And shall in the meane time sufficeintly save and keepe her harmles of and from the same and of and from all Acconns suites and demandes that shall or may concern the same Or any part or pcell thereof And shall give his sufficient bond to my executrix in that behalfe w:thin one moneth next after my decease And uppon Condiccon also that my said sonne John Acton shall within three monthes next after my decease become bound to my brother Anthony Acton in the summe of Twelve hundred

poundes to paie each of my daughter Borastons children that shall live to the age of Twenty and one yeares the summe of One hundred poundes a peece of lawfull money of England when and as they shall severally attayne to the age of Twenty and One yeares And that he shall also pay to any of his owne children that shall attayne to the age of Twenty and One yeares the summe of One hundred poundes a peece, when and as they shall severally attayne to the said age of Twenty and one yeares And I will that my executrix shall from tyme to tyme and at all tymes uppon reasonable request and at the chargees of my said sonne John Acton make and doe all and every such Act and Acts thing and things as shalbe needfull and expedient for the transferring and assigning unto him withall such money as is owing unto me by the Kings Ma:tie And for the enabling and authorising of him the said John Acton to reaceave release acquite and discharge the same and every or any oarte or pcell thereof Nevertheless uppon Condiccon as aforesaid.

ITEM I give to my wives sister Anne Piggot Tenne poundes to make her a Ring.

The rest and residue of all & singular my goods chattells and debts not before bequeathed I wholy give and bequeath to the said Blandina my wife And I make and ordeyne the said Blandina my wife the sole and only executrix of this my last will and Testament hoping she will truly performe the same as ?in ?trust is in her And I revoke all former wills by me made and ordeyne this to be my last will
