C10/86/36 f. 3

Abstract

Thomas Middleton's answer in C10/86/36 f. 3 is separate from the answer of the five merchants which constitutes C10/86/36 f. 2. Middleton's answer is shorter and deals with slightly different issues. It refers to a covenant and to the Sheriffs Court in the City of London. Possibly there was a procedural problem or error by Middleton in seeking an attachment in this Court. This answer is worth closer study to see what it reveals about pursuit of money claims in the Sheriffs Court.

Questions

  • When was the Sheriff's Court used as opposed to the Lord Mayor's Court of the City of London?
