I found trouble at mine arrivall & t seemes am Condemn:d not to part from this Coast w:thout it wee came to this place upon Sundy last in y:e afternoone where I found as good as a warr betweee Cap:t Minors, & S:r Abrah:m Shipman, who refused to hand any provisions landed for y:t hee meant not to stay heere, Cap:t Minors Protested before I came but was not answered at mine arrivall, How [Now?] I have Composed y:e Busynenesse Cap:t Browne hath promised to informe you at large : Cap:t Minors sett saile upon y:e Wednessday following, S:r Abraham is very much taken with y:e Person you sent downe & meaneth when Cap:t ?Tinker arriveth to take a farther resolution The Governor of Carwarr refuseth to licence for y:e settling y:e Island if I bee not much mistaken hee expecteth a prof:t which you will safely beleeve will be hard to bee gad from honrd S:r Abrah:m Complaineth of yo:r ffactor resid:t at Carwarr whether w:th reason or noo you will know in time, better than I cann for y:o prof:t informe you because I have heard but one side: I found M:r Gary heere who hath promised his best assistance to S:r Abrah:m in providing of supplyes from Goa or Salsete. Cap:t Browne hath traversed all y:e Island & will thereby bee able to give you a better acc:t thereof than I can doo but best by him & all who have beene on it (unless y:e sould XXXXX) I finde it rather acceeds than fall short of expectation. S:r Abrah:m desireth y:t when Cap:t Tinker Arriveth in yo:e parts hee may bee hastened downe w:th provisions for y:e Land men. Sir Ab: Shipman hath promised mee y:t in case hee dooth not use those things you send downe hee will returne them to you, if hee doth he will send you a receiptr, Chareging y:e same upon y:e Kings acc:t w:ch I take to bee y:e effect of w:t you wishes mee to doo; since my writing Concerning this Island I have Rounded it by sea & finde it is beggest bye 1/3 than was proposed by y:e Draught. I had an ewill [or evill] wellcome a board, & as bad thanks for my sending 6: Gunns ashoare w:th men of mine owne to ?mountthan as also y:e Boates mast for a fflaggstaff. Y:e Shipp Carpenter had his ?pate broke, others of my men well XXXXXXX & clapt upon y:e Garde, S:r Abrah:m Shipman was in noo fault, but rather I or Cap:t Browne for sending a Pipe of wine a shoure w:ch for y:e presnet hath made them all mad w:ch I also bee w:thout y:e helpe of wine if I should stay long heere. Cap:t Minors hath sent you a Copy of his protest together w:th S:r Ab:a Answer y:e busyenesse beeing pxxxx as it is I suppose there need noo great notice bee taken of it, God send you health as ?wisheth
