Biographical synthesis

James Jenkins (b.ca.1600; d.1665). Merchant.

He gave his residence as "parish of Grassechurch in ffanchurch streete" in 1656 This was probably the parish of Saint Benet Gracechurch, since there is a will in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury for James Jenkins, merchant, resident in Saint Benet Gracechurch, London, proved on November 21st 1665.[1]

Evidence from High Court of Admiralty

James Jenkins, a fifty-six year old merchant, deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on February 3rd 1656.[2] He ws examined on an allegation on behalf of William Watts in the case of "Ewers against Watts".[3] The case concerned tobacco shipped from Virginia.
