Biographical synthesis

Henry Pinot (b. ca. 1636; d. ?). Merchant.

Resident in 1657 in Rennes in France. Living in Saint Malo ca. 1655.

Evidence from High Court of Admiralty

Twenty-one year old Henry Pinot deposed on January 13th 1657 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on an allegation on behalf of the claimers Peter Garret and Stephen Garret in the case of "The claime of Peter Garret and Stephen Garret of Saint Malo for the ship the Don de Dieu of the same, ffrancis Gervais captaine".[1]

Henry Pinot stated that he had known the two claimers for two years and that he knew the ship the Don de Dieu, which was built two years ago at Saint Malo by a French shipwright named Vincent Ofrey. The ship, which was about 70 tons in burthen, was sold by the shipwright to the claimers".[2]
