2. dranke in an excessiue manner thereof till they haue bin highly distempered
3. therewith and XXmerlyaues have gone on board at the Mederas and other places
4. and layne ashore two or three dayes togwather neglecting their business on
5. board And this their disorderly deXXX hee and disobedient carriage
6. hee XXX the sayd Whitfeild XXXX ˹having˺ bin one tyme on shoare at the Mederas
7. being ˹and having XXXX˺ made use of some harlott there, had his ˹privie˺ member burnt

9. same, by the Mr Edward Hodges the Chirurgion of the sayd shipp ˹hee heard the sayd Whitfeild saye the sayd harlott came to bedd to him˺ And

14. To the 2 article of the sayd allogation hee saith that in the moneth
15. of June 1655 arlate the shipp arlate being then XX at St Christophers
16. and freighted for England and divers goods taken on board her and
17. some of her freighters on board her in Company of the Captaine
18. of the sayd shipp, the arlate Sammell Edwards being distempered
19. with drinks fell a rayleing against the Captaine of the sayd
20. shipp in presence of the sayd freighters and this deponent and divers
21. others of the sayd shipps Company, and called the sayd Captaine
22. (the arlate Lockier) knave, and roague, and Cheater, and banque
23. rapt followe, and other oppruburons language, and alsoe them
24. spake in disparagement of the ability of the sayd shipp the Negro
25. and sayd shipp shee was leakie and insufficient and not fitt to
26. performe her voyage or words to that effect, and XXX shortly after
27. vigt about a day or tow after the sayd passages, the sayd Edwards
28. ˹runne away, and˺ carried away his Cloathes, and went on board an other shipp
29. there lyeing called the Adventure, and this deponent sawe the say
30. Whifeild helping the sayd Edwards to put convey his cloat the
31. sayd Edwards his cloathes ˹and alsoe the Cloathes of the Boatswaine Thomas Morgan˺ away and reproced him for the same
32. and told him hee did not well in assissting the sayd Edwards in
33. Conveying their cloathes from on board without acquainting the
34. Captaine the of the sayd shipp therewith whereto the sayd Whitfeild
35. replyed to this deponent and sayd hee would not bee longe before
36. hee went away himselfe or to that effect, And saith that by these
37. and the like the evill speeches and carriages of the sayd Edwards some
38. of the freighters who had taken freight in the sayd shipp Negro
39. refused to send their goods on board, and others who had putt goods
40. on board her, did cause their goods to bee taken out of her againe, and lade
41. them aboard others shipps, and divers of the Company of the sayd shipp
42. Negro (being induced soe to doe as hee beleeveth by the example of the
43. sayd Edwards) did desert the sayd shipp Negro and came noe more
44. on board her, by which the sayd Edwards evill carriage and speeches and by
45. meanes of others their deserting the sayd shipp Negro, the sayd shipp was
46. deprived of her imployment by the say freighters upon the voyage shee was
47. the bound upon, and laye at St Christophers from the sayd moneth of
48. June one thousand sixe hundred fifty five till december the following to the
