Transcription

1. the said shipp the said Butt was and is well knowne and generally
2. observed and reputed to bee both at Middleburgh aforesaid, and at all
3. other places where the said shipp was employed and sailed to, And that the
4. said Peter Butt was for all the time of ˹about˺ seaven yeares predeposed
5. and at present is a Subiect of the said States of theUnited Netherlands
6. without any relation to Spanish fflanders, and hath ever since the
7. buying of the said shipp as aforesaid, possessed enjoyed sailed and
8. conducted the same in the quality of Master and ˹sole˺ Owner thereof
9. Which hee saith is publique and notorious both to him deponent being
10. his fellow Burgher, present at the said buying and observing the said
11. shipps employment and to the generality of the Masters of shipps
12. and Mariners of the said City and port of Middleburgh And
13. further hee cannot depose.
14. To the Last hee saith, his foregoeing deposition is true

17. To the first hee saith, hee knoweth not where the shipp interrate was
18. originally built nor at what time, and further referreth himslefe
19. to his foregoeing deposition, saying there was noe sale and bill of sale made
20. for the said shipp, but that the said sale was made, (as is usuall in that
21. Countrey) by present payments of the monies contracted and delivery of
22. the shipp contracted for, and that this deponent after the said sale, payments
23. and delivery drinkeing and discourseing with the said John hood heard
24. him acknowledge that hee was satisfyed and paÿed the summe aforesaid
25. for the said shipp by the said Peter Butt./
26. To the second hee saith the said John hood was the master of the
27. shipp in question at the time of the sale aforesaid, this deponent not
28. knowing her former Owners./
29. To the third hee saith hee knoweth not where the said Peter
30. Butt was borne, and saith his the said Butts wife and children
31. nowe live and inhabutt in Middleburgh aforesaid And referreth
32. himselfe to his foregoeing deposition./
33. To the 4:th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition./
34. To the 5:th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
35. To the 6:th hee saith hee doeth not know nor beleeve that the interrate
36. Levinus ffranck (who is a Merchant of Middleburgh well knowne
37. to this deponent) is any way concerned in the matter whereupon hee is
38. produced a Wittnesse, and that therefore hee receiveth XXXX Interrate
39. XXXXXXXXX. and saith hee ˹XXXX ffranck˺ is not a subiect of the king interrate
40. To the 7:th hee knoweth nothing thereof saving that hee ˹rendent˺ is a Subiect of the said States
