To the Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee had aboard the said shipp at the time of her
seizure three hundred prints of pictures, and eight baggs of pepper,
for his owne accompt, and hopeth to have them againe, but hath noe
share in the vessell, And otherwise cannot depose.

To the second hee saith hee was spoken to by his precontest the
master to come and testifie the truth in this cause, wherein hee
saith hee hath bin noewayes taught or instructed.

To the third hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and cannot
otherwise depose.

To the fourth hee hath not soe deposed.

Examined upon the foresayd allegation/

Harman Gooris of London Merchant aged 27 yeares or there
abouts a wittnesse sworne and examined saith and deposeth as
followeth videlicet./

To the first and second articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this deponent
was on board the shipp the hare in the feild during the voyage wherein shee
was taken and saith that hee heard the arlate
Keene saye after the sayd shipp had receaved her ladeing on board
that hee neede not bee afraid of the English (they being freinds) or to that
effect And further to these articles hee cannot depose./

To the 3 hee saith hee heard the Master John Keene at his comming from haverdegrace
with the ladeing in question on board her saye that hee intended to steere over for the Coast of England (not feareing
to be taken by any English shipps whatsoever they being freinds) and for that hee might thereby have the better
sea roome to sayle out of the English channell,
and well knoweth for that hee was on
board that the sayd Master and Company did not sett up any more sayle then
shee had at her first comming out thence And further to this article hee cannot
depose being noe seaman nor knowing or understanding the compasse or what quarter
the winde was in./
