and hee had and received goods from thence , and saith that all the said shipps
goods, saving the tobaccoes aforesaid belonging to this deponent, and a quantitie
belonging to others of the shipps company and about elaven hogsheads belonging
to a younge man dwelling in T[?orrieXe] were and are belonging to the said
Bassili[?era] and company and not to any Inhabitant of Virginia or other
person, which hee knoweth being merchant as aforesaid of the said shipp
and knowing that the same were bought with their effects, and otherwise
hee answereth negatively.
To the fourth hee saith that the said shipp the ffortuna carried in her to
Virginia tenn guns or peeces of ordnance and noe more, and brought the same
and noe more back againe, and left none at Virginia that were
carried out in her.
To the fifth hee saith that neither at the time of the shipps arivall at
Virginia nor at any other time after, did this deponent perceive, or heare
that the Inhabitants there had set up them selves in opposition to or as distinct
from this Commonwealth of England, and saith that there were noe
passengers carried thither in the said shipp ffortuna, and otherwise negatively
To the sixth article hee saith and deposeth that the said shipp the ffortunas
outward lading was not consigned to any in Virginia this deponent going
merchant thereof as aforesaid, and having the disposing thereof in traffique
to and for the accompt of the said producents.
To the last hee saith that there were no papers or writings aboard the said
shipp at the time of her said seizure, save only this deponents booke or
notes of the cargo, which hee beleeveth to be still in the said
shipp, and saith there were noe papers or writings torne, throwne
over board or otherwise concealed or made away.
