Abstract & context
Hugh Wood was a London merchant. Son of Edmond Wood, probably of Shrewsbury, he described himself in his will as "of London Esquire", and expressed a wish "to be buried either in the parish church of Richmond in the County of Surrie or in the parish church of Saint Albans in Woodstreet at the discretion of my loving wife." His dwelling house at the time of his death was in Richmond.
Writing his will in April 1658, administration of the will was granted to his widow just six weeks later.
His two sons, Hugh and Symon, received 2000 and 700 pounds respectively, with the rest and residue of his estate going to his four younger children. His brother Gabriel Wood of Shrewsbury was also to receive a legacy.
He appointed his wife, George (later Sir George) Smith and Paul Priaulx as his executors, with Giles Whittall to be assistant to the Executors in gathering in his estate.His brother-in-law Sir Christopher Pack was to take over his executorship of his father Edmond Wood's will, again aided by Giles Whittall.

Also had land and tenements in County of Kent
Trustees George Smith & Paul Priaulx, his other two executors (in addition to his wife)
Divides his personal estate into three and gives one third to his wife Martha, one third to his children share and share alike, and disposes of the last third as the testators third
