Transcription

To the 8th hee saith that when and assoone as the said shipp was
dispatched and dischardged at Virginia as aforesaid shee departed and
set saile for London and here safely arived, and here delivered
out to the use of the said Mr Andrewes all such goods and merchandizes
as were at Virginia taken in of and from his factors, and the said
shipp was here dischardged of and from the same the 23th of August
1653, which hee knoweth being still one of her company and
helping to deliver the said goods.

To the nineth hee saith that the said shipp the said voyage was
(and still is) of the burthen of 156 tonnes and a halfe, and from
fiall to New England could conveniently have carried the said voyage
151 tonnes and a halfe of wine (over and besides her tackle
furniture apparell and provisions and the masters five tonnes)
and would have caried the same in case the said Andrewes his factor
would have or had furnished the same, and that shee went dead
freighted at least twenty six tonnes and a halfe (of the
said Mr Andrewes his tonnage) from fiall to New England. And
hee yeeldeth a reason of his knowledge as aforesaid.

To the eleaventh hee saith hee cannot depose.

Upon the rest hee is not examined by direction of the partie producent.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee cometh at the request of the master
Roger Younge to testifie the truth in this cause, and saith that
all his wages are paid him a good space since, hee having bin a
voyage at sea since hee received the same. And otherwise hee
referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.

To the second hee referreth himselfe to the Charterpartie
aforesaid and cannot otherwise depose.

To the third hee saith that a shipp whereof Captaine husbands was
commannder was at ffiall by meanes of a storme forced to cut her
masts by the board, but the Edward rode fast and safely. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the fourth hee saith that while the said shipp Edward was at
New England [?at] deliverie of her goods, her owne Carpenter with the
help of another searched her underwater, and that to that end
shee was [?XXXXed] of her guns and water caskes,
but howe longe time was spent therein hee knoweth not.

To the fifth hee saith that some of the caskes of Mr Andrewes were rotten and
faultie (at the time of their lading at fiall) in the heads thereof
having their heads full of [?spiles]. some having about fourtie
spiles therein. And otherwise negatively.
