voiage in question. All which was done for the preservation of the said
shipp and goods in Case of seizure by the dutch and not otherwise
The premisses hee well knoweth by meanes of his said imployment
as Book keeper to the said Arnold Beake, and privity to his affaires
and transactions in his Merchandizing affaires. And further saving
his foregoeing depositions hee saith hee cannot depose/:-

To the 4th article hee saith, That the arlate John Claesson is well
knowne to be a dantzicker Burgher, and the arlate de Labistra[?XX GUTTER]
a hamburgher Merchant of great quality and repute, And that
both those places being in amity with this Commonwealth, in case the
said shipp and goods had belonged to the said persons they had been as free
from any legal confiscation, as if they had belonged to Natives
and Subjects of England, this deponent saying that hee hath very [?XXXX GUTTER]
acquaintance with the said Labiestraet, and having travelled
with him in and under the notion of a hamburgher Merchant
in severall parts beyond the seas, And further cannot depose

To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true/:-

To the Crosse Interrogatories./ [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee was not in nor belonged to the shipp or
voiage ubterrate/

To the second hee referreth to his former deposition./

To the third hee saith hee hath knowne the interrate John Claesson
from the beginning of the Voiage in Controversie. And otherwise cannot
depose./

To the 4th 5th 6th 7th and 8th hee saith hee knoweth nothing of the
transactions therein interrate for that hee was not in the voiage
in Controversie/

To the 9th hee saith, that according to the accompt of the said shipps
Company they consisted of the said Master a dantzicker one English
boy, and about 12. or 13. more, but of what nation hee knoweth not
And further cannot depose/:-

To the 10th hee saith, so farr as this deponent remembreth, there
were 5 Gunns aboard the shipp interrate who then
went from dover upon the Voiage in Controversy, but
knoweth not how many shee brought home/

To the 11th hee saith the Vessell or shipp in question was bought at
dover of the Officer of the Prize Office there by Arnold Beake
and Companie for the somme of 296. pounds sterling or thereabouts
and thereby hee is well assured that the said shipp was and is
entred and recorded as a shipp belonging to England.

To the 12th Interrogatorie now ministred hee saith hee was not in the
Voiage in Controversy, and therefore can say nothing to the
demannds contained in this Interrogatorie./
