“Sir Thomas Bludworth militis” [In RH margin]

“In the Name of God Amen the second day of September Anno Dom one thousand six hundredd (sic) ninety two I S:r Thomas Bludworth of Leatherhead in the County of Surrey knight being sick in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner following..”

“..my Body I comitt to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter

as for my worldly estate I dispose as followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my sister the Right Hono:ble the Lady Anne Jeffreys the sume of two hundred pounds

ITEM I give and bequeath unto my goddaughter and Neice (sic) M:rs Christina Jeffreys the sume of three hundred pounds

ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Neece Mary Jeffreys the sume of fifty pounds

ITEM I give to my Lady Moor one hundred pounds

ITEM I give and bequeath unto M:r Richard Spencer (sic) of London Merchant the sume of one hundred pounds

ITEM I give unto my Aunt Bludworth the sume of tenn pounds

ITEM I give unto M:rs Saltonstall [??] ten pounds

ITEM I give to William Hitch [??] of London gent the sume of ffive pounds to buy him mourning

ITEM I give unto my servant Thomas Jolly all my woolen apparell

ITEM I give devise and bequeath all my Mannors Messuages Lands Tenements rents and hereditments by whatsoever name or names they may of shall be called in the Counties of Yorke Darby and Surrey as alsoe in the City of London or the suburbs thereof to my xxx Brother Charles Bludworth Esq:r all the rest and residue of my personall estate goods and chattells whatsoever and wheresoever (after my debts and funeralls are paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my said brother Charles Bludworth and I doe hereby make constitute ordaine and appoint my said so brother Charles Bludworth the full and sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made

In witnesse whereof I have thereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare xxxxx above written

Signed sealed published and declared to be his last will and testament in the presence of Joseph XXXling Tho: Jolly Will: Hitch/ xxx

BE IT KNOWNE unto all men by these presentse that whereas I S:r Thomas Bludworth Kn:t have made and declared my said last Will and Testament in writeing (sic) beareing (sic) date the Second day of this instant September I the said Sir Thomas Bludworth doe by this present Codicill confirme and ratifie my said Past will and testament and whereas I have therein devised all my Landes Mannors Messuages rents and Hereditaments in the Counties of Yorke Derby (sic) and Surrey and in the Citty (sic) of London and suburbs thereof to my xx [CSG: could be ho: presumably “hounoured”] brother Charles Bludworth my will and meaneing (sic) is and I doe hereby give devise and bequeath the same to him and his heires forever

ITEM I doe give and bequeath unto M:r Joseph Gosling [??] mourning

ITEM I give and bequeath unto M:rs Gosling [?] mourning

ITEM I giVe and bequeath unto my ho: brother Charles Bludworth all my Leases whatever

ITEM I give to my servant Thomas Perkins the sume of tenn pounds to put him out an apprentice I give to the poore of Leatherhead in the County of Surrey tenn pounds

ITEM I give to the poore of the Parish where my ffather was buried the sume of tenn pounds desireing to be buried in the Vault by him which he built for our ffamily

ITEM I give to M:rs Bowden [??] and M:rs Thomas Bird of London and all such ffreinds as come to visit me in my sickness rings of the value of twenty shillings whereas M:r Richard Spencer hath kept my accounts for a considerable time I desire and hope that he will give to my brother a just and true accompt (which I doe not but believe he will/ the same not being yet adjusted and my will and meaneing is that this Codicill or schedule be and be adjudged to be part and parcell of my said last will and testament and that all things therein conteyned and mencioned (sic) be faithfully and truly performed as if the same were set downe in my said last will and testament

In witnesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale this fifth day of September Anno Dom One Thousand Six hundred ninety two.
