To the fourth article hee saith and deposeth that shortly after the receiving of
the said letter from the said producent. hee received another from the said Bass[?erada]
and Copp[?i]ns from Nantes, ordering him to carry his said shipp to doulau in
Quinparl[?e]y where they said they would lade her with corne for the said mr
[?volaix] for fflushing according to directions which (as they wrote) they had received
from him, and this deponent carrying the said shipp thither accordingly, the
said Basserada came and laded him as aforesaid, And otherwise hee cannot
depose.

To the fifth hee saith hee well knoweth the said Basserada and Coppins and
saith they were and are dutchmen and factors to and for the producent and soe
commonly accompted. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the sixth article hee saith and deposeth that about the last of June last
(newe stile) the said shipp the winter kinge departed with her said lading of corne
from doulau for fflushing, and in her course comming neere the Ile of
wight, this deponent, intending to put in there to see if hee could meete
with company to to goe for fflushing, was met with and seized by the arlate
Captaine hurley in or about the thirteenth of July last and brought
with the said lading into Portsmouth, where shee and her said lading have
bin ever since and are detayned to the greate preiudice of him the said
[?Vol?uix], and that his bill of lading, coquett and other writings
were in and aboard his shipp at the time of the said seizure, and were
taken from him by the said hurley and company, amongest which papers
and writings there were the foresaid letter written him from the said [?Veluix]
and the other written untohim from Basserada and Coppins, by him
before deposed of, and other wise hee cannot depose.

To the seaventh article hee saith and deposeth that hee this deponent upon
his bringing into Portsmouth was put prisoner into a house there, and
kept close prisoner for the space of seaven dayes and nights together,
and none of his company or acquaintance suffered to come to him, during
which space his corne was all unladen without his knowledge
and brought ashore at Portsmouth, upon which this deponent assoone
as hee could get out of the said house, came privately away, to complaine
here of the premisses and seeke for redresse.

To the last hee saith his deposition aforegoeing was and is true.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee is well assured that the said shipp and corne
are free from being made prize and that they will be released, and
therefore hee feareth noe preiudice by their condemnation, and otherwise
hee answereth negatively saving as aforesaid.

To the second hee saith hee hath well knowne the said Peter [?Veluix] about
tenn yeares last, and saith hee was and is a thicj and middle statured
man and as hee taketh it, of a brownish haire, and liveth in a streete
in fflushing called the Groone [?wout]; behinde the greate church, where
hee hath dwelt for all the said time of this deponents knowledge of him to
his best remembrance.

To the third hee saith that hee carried from fflushing to Saint Mallo's
hides, wooll, hopps, and st[?arch] some for accompt aforesaid of the
producent and the rest upon freight of [XXXXX ?Rola] of Middleborow[?a] and delivered the same at Saint Mallo's to one whose
[XXX] name was John but his sirname hee remembreth not, which goods
were taken in at fflushing aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the fourth hee saith hee can write and reade written hand, and
understandeth some ffrench, English, and Spanish and otherwise negati[?velie GUTTER]
saveing as aforesaid.

To the fifth hee saith that hee had not any charter parti[?a] [?made] for the
said shipps ladeing brought from ffrance, they same being laden as aforesaid
by the producents order and for his accompt, and touching the rest of the
said Interrogatorie hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.

To the sixth hee saith hee hath knowne the interrogated Basserada and Copp[?ins]
for a yeares space last or thereabouts, and saith they live both together at
Nantes
