Biographical synthesis
Edward Norris (b. ca. 1619; d. ?). Mariner.
Quarter master of the ship the Jane and Elizabeth of Poole.
"Was and went out in the said shipp one of her company and was quarter master thereof".[1]
Resident in 1651 in Poole in the county of Dorset.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Thirty-two year old Edward Norris deposed on November 24th 1651 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on an allegation on behalf of George Scutt and company in the case of "The Claime of Geo: Scutt the elder George Scutt and Company for the shipp the Jane and Elizabeth of Poole and the tackle furniture and apparell and lading of ffish in the same taken by a Jersey man of warr and carried into Jersey".[2]
