James Burton (b.ca.1601; d.??1675). Merchant.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Fifty-five year old James Burton deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on May 31st 1656.
There is an earlier case in the same court recorded in a volume of personal answers as "The answers of James Burton, Thomas Bludworth and Simon Spencer, September 2nd 1653". This may well be the same James Burton. The James Burton of the personal answers appears to have been a draper, as was Thomas (later Sir) Bludworth. Sir Thomas Bludworth mentions James Burton in his will, proven in July 1682.[1]
