To the first second third and fowrth articles of the said Allegation hee saith and
deposeth, That in or about the moneths of December and January
last past there was at Cadiz in Spaine laden on bord the ship the
Morning Starr whereof this deponent then was and now is Captaine
by the ffactors and Correspondents of the producent Christopher
[?Dinsart] and for his accompt fower bags therein conteyeing One
Thousand peeces of eight Peru Coyne marked with the first marke in the
[FIRST MARKE, LH MARGIN]
margent and allsoe one other bag conteyneing fower hundred twenty and
five Ryalls of eight and three hundred and fiftie old Ryalls of
eight Peru Coyne marked with the second marke in the marhent to bee
[SECOND MARKE, LH MARGIN]
from thence transported in the said Shippe to Dunquirke where the same
was and is consigned to bee delivered to the said producent or his
assignes for his use and accompt which hee knoweth to bee true hee
this deponent when the said money and plate was soe laden on bord
the said shippe being Commander thereof did apppoynt his precontest Lucas
[Waede] and Garret Martens his Purser to receive the same, and upon Notice
from them of theire receipt thereof did signe bills of ladeing for
the same accordingly in and by which bills hee saith the said money
and plate was and is consigned to bee delivered at Dunquirke to him
the said producent or his Assignes for his use and accompt. And
further cannot depose. saveing that the said factors by whom the said
money and plate was laden upon
theire said ladeing thereof did acquaint and tell this deponent that
the same was for the propper riscoe and accompt of him the said producent
who ever since that tyme hath bin and still is accompted the
true and only owner thereof. And further cannot depose
To the 5. and 6th articles of the said Allegation and to the schedules or
bills of ladeing annexed and now shewed unto him hee saith and
deposeth That upon such the ladeing of the said money and plate on
bord the said shippe hee this deponent did signe and sett his
hand and firme to three severall bills of ladeing of one Tenor
date and marke for the said money marked with the first marke and
three severall bills of ladeing of one Tenor and date for the moneys
marked with the second marke in the margent as is above specifiied
One of each of which said bills hee had and brought along with
him in the said shippe and had the same on bord when she was
taken and the other two of each sort hee left with the laders of
the said Plate by whom the same have bin and are as hee beleeveth
sent pver land from Spania to fflanders and soe from thence hither
And saith that the said two bills of ladeing annexed and now
shewed unto him were and are two of those very originall
bills
